Opposable 2020: Now With 15% Less Fat (and ∞ % More Bonus Material)

.

Okay, so I just blew my own mind a little bit. I was reviewing the timeline for getting the first edition of Opposable published. At this time last year, I hadn’t even sent Opposable out for its first content edit. That wouldn’t happen until February 22nd.

So, between February 22 and June 28, 2019, the release date for the paperback, I did everything you’re supposed to do as a first-time, self-published author before launching a book.

Now, I need to put a buffer paragraph here, because I’m about to start swearing, and I don’t want it showing up on the Facebook excerpt. All right, that’s probably enough. Where were we? Oh, yeah.

Bullshit. Rough draft to release in four months? What the fuck was I thinking?

All right, no need to rehash the gory details. They happened, and I’m not going to pretend they didn’t. I’m also not going to pretend I released a worthy, professional novel last year. You deserve better.

This year, however, I guarantee you’ll get what you deserve.

Here’s what you’ll get. Opposable V2.0 will be 16.68% shorter than the first edition and a full 32.54% shorter than the unabridged version.

But don’t let the length fool you. A vast majority of the shaving involved economy of language, not action. In fact, the concentration of f-bombs increased from 0.46% in the first edition to 0.49% in the second edition. I even updated the ratings card. See, all the good stuff is still there.

Naturally, I had to kill many of my darlings, not because they weren’t pure genius, but those little shits were fucking with my story’s momentum. Full disclosure, I kept one of them, and it’ll probably come back to bite me in the ass. Let’s see if you can figure out what it is when you read it.

Plus, whenever I remove something, I challenge myself to insert a new nugget of inspiration. I guarantee a more fluid, immersive reading experience.

You’ll also get a couple nifty little appendices, a special message from Patton, more opportunities to engage, and at least a little teaser for Spire.

I thought about adding a glossary, but then I saw this-

But then I also remembered what Thor said-

So, here we are, just about a year later, and Opposable is, once again, in the capable hands of the interior designer, graphic artist, and eBook designer.

Depending on lead time for reviews and marketing, I’m hoping to get to you in May, but June 28th sounds like a good launch date, too.

I’m starting to get a little excited. I hope you are, too. Let’s do this shit right this time. Thanks!

Until next time, get ready. I’m uncancelling the apocalypse.
